News Release

25th November

Consulting engineering firm Waldeck in Peterborough, which has quadrupled in size over the past four years, has been named Medium Business of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Waldeck, which recently located to larger premises in Cross Street Court, was presented with the accolade at the Evening Telegraph Business Awards 2011 on Friday by columnist, presenter and producer Paul Ross.

With a total of nine offices across the UK, Waldeck first opened its Peterborough branch in 2007 with just three members of staff.

Today the Peterborough office has 20 employees and is working on numerous major projects including a £210 million Ocado distribution centre in Dordon, North Warwickshire and a £13 million extension to the Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough which will house retail giant Primark’s new 60,000 ft² store.

As well as moving to bigger premises in Peterborough Waldeck has also moved its Mechanical and Engineering Consultancy Department from its head office in Sleaford, Lincolnshire to its new Cross Street site.

Director Paul Housego explained: “Winning Medium Business of the year at the Evening Telegraph Business Awards 2011 is the culmination of a successful yet challenging 12 months.

“This award is in recognition of the hard work and passion of the staff at Waldeck in Peterborough and I’d like to thank my team and our clients for their continued support as without them we wouldn’t have a business in the first place!”

Managing Director Paul Waldeck added: “In October Waldeck was crowned Consulting Engineer of the Year at the Builder & Engineer Awards 2011 so to win two awards in as many months is a great way to end the year.

“The UK’s construction industry is worth over £100 billion a year to the economy but like a lot of industries it has been hit hard by the recession; however, we’ve managed to confront it head-on and overcome the challenges that come with increased financial pressures.

“Using creative engineering and innovative thinking we add value to projects while reducing the budget and at the same time maintain the same high level of quality, commitment and service to our clients.”
