Liberty Mutual Awards Gold Safety Award to Siemens’ Milan facility.

ATLANTA, Nov. 14, 2011 — Siemens Industry Inc. today announced that its Metallurgical Services Offline Maintenance facility in Milan, Ohio, has received the Gold Safety Award for exceptional safety performance from Liberty Mutual.

The Liberty Mutual Gold Safety Award is the highest level award for a facility based upon an outstanding safety record without a single lost time accident in 2010.

“This recognition is proof of our steadfast commitment to our employees and our community, as well as evidence of our hard work,” said Kirk Rounds, general manager at Siemens’ Milan facility. “We are honored to receive such high accolades from Liberty Mutual, and we look forward to continued excellence in safety.”

Liberty Mutual’s Loss Control presents various safety awards for outstanding results in accident prevention and for meeting specific criteria based upon the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Days Away from Work and Restricted/Transfer Cases (DART). To win gold, a company must have a DART rate at least 80 percent better than similar companies with a minimum of 200,000 labor hours.

Siemens’ Milan facility, which has not had a lost time claim since 2008, is a full-service maintenance work shop that specializes in the design, engineering and heavy fabrication of material handling equipment and electric arc furnace components. It also houses a comprehensive inventory of spare parts.
