Siemens West Chicago Plant Earns Brilliance in Business 'Green Initiatives' Award from City
ATLANTA, December 12, 2011 – The City of West Chicago, Ill recently recognized Siemens Industry’s local manufacturing operations with its Brilliance in Business “Green Initiatives” award during a ceremony at City Hall.
The Brilliance in Business program features six categories, including green initiatives, economic development, outstanding not-for-profit, community service, community image and small business of the year. The program is designed to build awareness of outstanding local businesses that are helping to shape the community through best practices, innovation, creativity and sustainability.
"By celebrating the success stories of these six brilliant businesses, we are trumping the perception that this economy has our businesses stalled in a survival-only mode and are acknowledging the reality that they are moving forward, and that we are moving forward. Our businesses have continued to contribute, create, innovate and invest in their future and ours," said West Chicago Mayor Mike Kwasman.
Siemens recently invested approximately $10 million upgrading two buildings at the location. Siemens West Chicago manufacturing facilities, comprising 200,000 square-feet in two buildings, employs 350 people.
