Sierra Trading Post Releases App for Android
Cheyenne, Wyo., Sept. 28, 2012 — Sierra Trading Post, complements its robust online presence with its mobile app for Android, which released today.
"Customers are tech-savvy and, increasingly, they are using mobile devices to shop,” explains Andy Newlin, director of web & emerging technology for Sierra Trading Post. “Our commitment to provide the best customer service is pervasive here and includes every customer touch point. We’re building apps with the goal of continuously improving the user experience just as we’re always improving each of our stores, websites and call centers.”
Like the desktop experience, the app’s precise filtering makes finding Great Deals and Great Brands a cinch. Customers can quickly find products by brand or department and then narrow the selection by color, size and more. Special offers, customer reviews, enhanced product shots and brand details make it easy to find the right product at the right price. On-the-go shoppers can search using the text-to-speech enabled search box. Logged-in users benefit from a saved cart that allows them to continue shopping on another device at any time without losing the items in their cart. Social sharing, built into the app, encourages shoppers to share product and purchases with friends on Facebook and Twitter or via email.
To celebrate the Android app’s launch, the Top 100 Internet retailer is encouraging downloads with a limited-time free shipping offer. Customers who download and shop with the app will get free shipping on all orders for the duration of the promotion. The app is available for free download in the Google Play Store.
“We built our app in-house, allowing us to respond quickly to customer feedback,” Newlin says. “Additionally, a single click from anywhere in the app will connect a user to our excellent customer service team.”
The app joins Sierra Trading Post’s highly optimized mobile site, http://m.sierratradingpost.com.
“We want our app to be the fastest, easiest shopping experience for our customers,” says Sierra Trading Post Android Developer Justin Johnson. “With advanced filtering, sticky shopping cart and snappy performance, our customers can quickly narrow our large product catalog to the items, colors and sizes they want in just a few clicks.”
The eTailer is currently developing a commerce-enabled app for Apple users, and plans to release it by the end of the year.
While Sierra Trading Post continues to study how consumers use mobile technology to shop, it maintains its commitment to exceptional service, the best possible deals on outdoor gear, shoes, clothing and home furnishings and a nimble shopping experience wherever they happen to be with their Android device.
