NAPERVILLE, Ill. ― April 3, 2013 ― Sikich LLP, a leading accounting, advisory, investment banking, technology and managed services firm, announced today the formation and appointment of three members to its firm advisory board. The esteemed members, who include Chicago-area business executives and owners, will tap into their diverse backgrounds to offer valuable perspectives and advice to the Sikich Executive Board and management team.

“As Sikich continues to experience rapid growth, our Executive Board determined that receiving valuable counsel from expert, objective third parties would help the firm meet its goals in a timely and effective manner, as well as review and revise strategies as necessary,” said Jim Sikich, CEO and managing partner. “The three advisory board members are all well-respected leaders, and have extraordinary business acumen in areas such as operations, marketing, legal, finance and technology.”

Sikich’s newly created advisory board welcomes the following members:

Paul S. Detlefs is the founder and president of The Prestwick Group, a consulting and advisory firm focused on small and mid-sized businesses and their owners. In his 35-year career, he has worked in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, construction and professional services. Detlefs spent 24 years at Andersen Consulting/Accenture, where he was managing partner of the Chicago-based Middle Markets group, and expanded it to six other Midwest locations. He was also responsible for a software line of business and led projects at several large companies, including Caterpillar and Whirlpool. Detlefs is an honors graduate of DePauw University and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a registered CPA and holds additional certifications in production/inventory management, behavioral analysis, values analysis, TriMetrix HD and guerrilla marketing. He is also a Professional Implementer of the Entrepreneurial Operating System.

“I am very excited to be joining Sikich’s new advisory board,” said Detlefs. “I have spent my entire career advising small and mid-sized businesses, and Sikich has a great model—personal attention combined with deep capability. The growth from the firm Jim Sikich founded in 1982 to the Top 50 firm of today had been dramatic, and I think Sikich has the right strategies to grow and serve even more clients, in broader ways, in the future. I look forward to my role in helping create that future.”

Dennis M. Malchow is the senior operating partner at Arbor Investments, the leader in food and beverage private equity, where he is responsible for overseeing various portfolios, working with the investment management team, participating in mergers and acquisitions transactions, and managing the company’s overall strategy and direction. Malchow holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Long Beach, and he attended Harvard University’s Agribusiness Senior Management Seminar at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. Malchow is the chairman of the board for Columbus Foods, a leader in premium sliced and bulk deli meats; co-chair of Horizons for Youth, a charitable organization committed to helping kids from kindergarten through college achieve a quality education; and chairman of the Kathy Malchow Scholarship Foundation, a family foundation dedicated to providing education scholarships for deserving students.

“I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with the management team at Sikich,” said Malchow. “I am hopeful to provide additional business insight that will make a difference for an already successful company.”

Keven Wilder is the owner of Wilder Inc., a retail consulting firm that helps clients develop successful marketing and merchandising strategies. She was also the founder and CEO of Chiasso, an award-winning cataloger and national specialty gift store chain. Wilder earned a law degree from Boston University’s School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College. Currently, she is on the Board of Governors at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she received a bachelor of fine arts degree.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve on Sikich’s advisory board, as well as to work with Jim Sikich and Stan Logan,” said Wilder. “Sikich has a wonderful business model with great opportunity for further growth, and I am looking forward to guiding the firm toward even more success.”
