PAYNOVA SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH FUJIFILM

Paynova has concluded an agreement with Fujifilm Sverige AB to supply an electronic payment solution for the development of digital pictures via the Internet, a market worth billions in Sweden, and one that is growing rapidly. When the consumer orders paper copies to be sent by post, the photographic data file with its selected digital pictures is transferred at the same time that payment for the service is made using the Paynova Wallet. Paynova will be the only payment solution in Fujifilm’s digital camera developing system to handle this form of distribution.

The market for digital paper copies is growing rapidly. Today the Swedish market accounts for around 30 million digital film rolls. For each analogue camera sold today, over four digital cameras are sold. Digital pictures can be edited and stored on your computer, transferred to CD-ROM, sent as e-mail attachments, electronic postcards, etc., but they can also be “developed” and printed as high-quality paper copies. A large number of photo labs offer development by mail order, usually with cash-on-delivery and invoice as the payment method. In the field of digital development Fujifilm is one of the biggest companies in Sweden. This business is actively marketed in partnership with TV4.se, Spray.se, Expressen.se and 86 other websites.

“This is an agreement that shows that an electronic payment solution together with electronic products, in this case digital pictures, is an unbeatable combination,” says Pelle Hjortblad, CEO of Paynova AB. “The fact that Paynova will also be the only payment solution increases the value of the agreement considerably.”

Fujifilm’s development system for digital pictures is unique by virtue of the fact that the process takes place locally at 65 photo shops in Sweden. Consumers can either place their order and hand their photo data file in at the store or send the file and order digitally over the Internet. With the current system, however, the finished pictures must be collected and paid for over the counter. Paynova’s payment solution opens up the possibility of ordering pictures simply and easily online, paying securely using the Wallet and then receiving them in your letterbox a few days later. This method still retains the flexibility and accessibility provided by proximity to a local photo shop, for complaints or returns, for example.
