PAYNOVA TO BE LAUNCHED ON FRANCE’S BIGGEST E-RETAIL NETWORK

Paynova France has signed an agreement with Maximiles SA, the leading player in Internet-based bonus programmes in France. As well as the conventional e-retail agreement, the two parties have also agreed that Maximiles’ 950,000 or so members will receive bonus points when they open a Paynova wallet. The launch will take place within a few weeks. Members will then be motivated by further bonus points every time they use their Paynova wallet. But the most significant thing is that Paynova will gain direct marketing channels to the fifty or so leading online shopping sites that are connected to the network.

“We will be offering our 950,000 active members Paynova’s user-friendly electronic payment solution, which can handle small transaction sums,” says Thomas Chatillion, CEO of Maximiles SA. “With the Paynova Wallet, our users will be able to purchase any points they need and convert them into goods or services. By using this solution for all payments, it’s also possible to generate Maximile points for your account.”

As soon as a wallet is registered and activated via Maximiles, it generates bonus points. Paynova considers that this integration with Maximiles’ bonus programme will promote rapid expansion of the number of connected wallets and active consumers. It is expected that subsequently there will be a considerable increase in the number of transactions taking place via the Paynova Wallet, because each time the wallet is used to make a payment, new bonus points are generated for the owner. This will create strong incentives to choose Paynova rather than credit cards as a method of payment.

However, in the long term, the most significant aspect is that Paynova will not only reach Maximiles’ million or so connected consumers, but will also gain a direct marketing channel to around fifty of France’s most interesting e-retailers within a variety of sectors. These include: the car hire firm Avis; the French state railway company SNCF’s travel agency Voyages-sncf, which is one of the most visited travel booking websites in France; TicketNet, which distributes over 5 million event tickets annually. Other high-volume companies and brands linked to Maximiles are Dell, Disneyland, American Express, DVDFute and Yves Rocher.

The type of loyalty programme that Maximiles markets and manages is a popular phenomenon in France, attracting large numbers of consumers, both in physical trade and on the Internet. When a product is purchased, a car is hired or a credit card is used, the consumer earns bonus points or so-called “miles”. Once sufficient points have been recorded they can be converted on request into a particular item or can be used to get a discount on a bonus purchase on the Internet. The high rate of expansion in the number of members and e-retailers shows that Maximiles has an attractive business concept. A shared bonus system for several sectors and companies creates a considerably greater commercial potential for both consumers and e-retailers than if each company adopts its own system, as airlines often do, for example.

“This agreement is particularly interesting, because the driving force in this online shopping network is based on a total solution involving around one million consumers and fifty or so attractive e-retailers. This means that the conditions for rapid growth in volume are in-built,” says Johan Waxberg, CEO of Paynova AB. “We will be visible on the French e-retail market and will achieve real exposure with regard to e-retailers and consumers. In addition, the launch will take place immediately without any complicated and drawn-out installation process.”
