An increasing number of online gaming companies are joining Paynova and the trend is expected to continue during 2005. Over Easter, 4,500 tickets were released for the world’s largest LAN and computer festival - DreamHack. Youngsters from all over Scandinavia will be in Jönköping from 16 to 19 June to play the latest games and socialise with like-minded people. Payments were made with a click of the button via Paynova’s electronic wallets.

DreamHack is the world’s largest festival for young people interested in computers. For four days youngsters from across Scandinavia will be gathering to make use of the latest technology, play the latest games and socialise with like-minded people.

Something new for this year is that those purchasing tickets can pay using electronic wallets from Paynova. The Paynova Wallet means users can pay online for items large or small without needing to worry about giving their credit card number out. Festival participants can also transfer money between each other quickly, simply and securely using Paynova wallets.

“By using Paynova, we can register payments in real time and save on the costs associated with multiple and frequent small payments, which are expensive using debit cards. Many youngsters are not old enough to own a credit card and, in this case, Paynova’s solution is the best solution. Using the Paynova Wallet means we also get a payment guarantee and can easily handle different currencies,” comments Martin Öjes, organiser of DreamHack.

Paynova currently has agreements with around 20 online gaming companies. In addition to DreamHack, referees include, for instance, Habbo, TV4 Blip, Project Entropia, Fragzone, and the market segment is expected to grow further.

“Network gaming is a growing market and players such as DreamHack are consequently an obvious target group for Paynova. It is a huge recognition for us at Paynova when online organisers choose our payment solution, as they are a very knowledgeable group of IT users. Their customers also see the benefits of electronic wallets and can encourage others to join. Companies that offer online gaming have increasingly joined Paynova and we expect the trend to continue during 2005,” says Johan Waxberg, CEO at Paynova.

About DreamHack

DreamHack started as a small computer get-together in 1995 and is today the world’s largest computer festival. Visitors bring their own computers and are linked to a local area network (LAN) and to the Internet. Some of the partners that make the festival possible are ZyXEL, which contributes hardware for the network, and Rix Telecom, with responsibility as the sole supplier of access to the Internet. Rix subsidiary Port80 will supply one gigabit of Internet capacity via Stockholm and one gigabit via Malmö/Copenhagen. SUNET will also be connected directly via Jönköping University. Other major partners include Abit, Antec, Asus, Chalmers, EA Games, the University of Skövde, KTH, Microsoft and UNF. During the festival, around 50,000 cans of Jolt Cola, the official drink of the festival, will be consumed. Almost 400 officials work with DreamHack voluntarily.
