Ex-Des O’Connor Aston Martin ‘on song’
A 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Mk I, previously owned by one of the UK’s best-loved entertainers, is sure to hit the right note when it is offered for sale at the Silverstone Auctions hosted Classic Sale.
Aside from once being the property of Des O’Connor CBE, this is a stunning example in highly original condition and has been estimated at between £100,000 to £120,000 for the auction at Silverstone circuit on Saturday 27th July.
Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “Des was the first owner of this exquisite 1966 DB6 and it would appear he didn’t hold back as every conceivable option was ordered, including power steering, heated rear screen and air conditioning.
“If that wasn’t enough then the lucky new owner will also get pictures of Des when he owned the car which are included in the history file.”
Now being offered for sale with its original number plate, there can be few DB6 examples in such an original condition, including the colour combination of Oyster Special Grey with Special Red interior.
Underneath the bonnet, the engine still produces a delightful purr and is in full operational order, thanks to an extensive mechanical overhaul.

Nick added: “Rarely do we see a car so complete and boasting the original engine, automatic transmission, interior seats, door cards and even chassis number allocation written under the rear seats.
“The Silverstone Classic Sale, one of the highlights at the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, offers a rare opportunity to own a truly incredible car, the first time it has been offered for public sale in 35 years.
“However, if you miss out on this DB6 then we also have an Aston Martin DB5 from 1965, estimated at between £275,000 to £325,000, which is a best-of-breed example.”
