Flawless Aston Martin DB4 to be offered at NEC Classic

A truly stunning 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Series II, possibly the finest example of its type, will be offered for sale by Silverstone Auctions at The Footman James Classic Motor Show on 17th November.

Such is the class and pedigree of this particular car, one of just 351 produced, it is estimated at between £180,000 to £200,000, fitting for a car that is the epitome of British engineering coupled with exquisite Italian styling designed by Touring of Milan.

“This DB4 is one for the purists, stunning to look at and a delight to drive. It has also recently benefited from a major restoration by renowned Aston Martin specialists Alan Smith Motors, completing the awesome package,” said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions.

Chassis number DB4/294 is presented in original Aston Martin Jet Black with light beige interior and comes equipped with several factory supplied options including chrome wire wheels and a heated rear window. Yet what really makes this car so special is its fascinating and carefully detailed history file.

Highlights of the extensive file include a BMI Heritage certificate, a copy of the original Aston Martin build sheet, details of restorations by Desmond J Smail during 1991 and recent works by Alan Smith Motors in 2011 and 2012, maintenance and service invoices, plus photographs and a record of its achievements at major events and presentations.

“This is among the most desirable and beautifully styled of all Aston Martins and our auction presents a rare opportunity to acquire a flawless DB4,” added Nick.

The car, which is recorded in the Register of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust, will be offered for sale alongside a host of other classic cars, classic motorbikes and automobillia items on Saturday 17th November at the NEC as part of the three-day Footman James Classic Motor Show. All of the lots will be available for viewing on both the 16th and 17th November.
