New look CarFest sales beckon for Silverstone Auctions

Following last year’s hugely successful inaugural CarFest events which raised nearly £1million for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal, including £90,000 from two classic car auctions hosted by Silverstone Auctions, the team will once again be holding two sales at this year’s CarFest events.

Despite being months away, the first charity lot has already been consigned – a truly stunning 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 Roadster, which has been fully rebuilt at a cost of more than £100,000 by renowned marque specialists Vicarage Ltd. Amazingly, the entire proceeds from the sale of this beautiful classic, including auction premium, will be generously donated to the charity.

Building on last year’s amazing levels of participation and entertainment, there’s also a twist to this year’s sale proceedings. While all makes of classic cars are being invited for consideration into the auction, there will also be four distinct sections to excite the crowds further. The separate themes are ‘Best of British’, ‘Porsche 911 at 50’, ‘Hot Hatches’ and ‘American Idols’, giving buyers an amazing selection of cars to choose from.

The auctions are set to be one of the highlights of the weekend motoring festivals which take place for the first time at Oulton Park, Cheshire, from 2nd to 4th August and once again at Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire, from 23rd to 25th August.

The brainchild of DJ and motoring nut Chris Evans, the family focused weekends will have a host of other events and activities on offer alongside the auctions including exhilarating motorsport action, live music from top headline acts and a fantastic food festival.

Evans hopes that this year, CarFest will raise an incredible £2million for Children in Need, and the signs are already encouraging with all 50,000 tickets selling out within hours of being placed on sale. Full details about what’s planned at this year’s CarFest events can be found at www.carfest.org.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “Last year’s CarFest auctions were truly unforgettable for many reasons, not least because of the amount of money raised, the huge crowds they attracted and the fantastic levels of fun and enjoyment.

“However, this year promises to be even bigger and better with the addition of the new auction format which highlights four very different car types, but also because of another great new venue at Oulton Park.”

The addition of the two CarFest sales brings the total number of auctions being hosted by Silverstone Auctions during 2013 to six. Its first sale will be held at Race Retro on 23rd February and is followed by the International Trophy Sale on 18th May and the Silverstone Classic Sale on 27th July, both at Silverstone circuit. After the two CarFest sales in August, the team will conclude their year at the NEC Classic Motor Show on 16th November.
