On your ‘marque’ for NEC Classic auction

With more than sixty cars now confirmed, including a 2004 Ferrari Enzo, Silverstone Auctions has closed the catalogue for its inaugural sale at The Footman James Classic Motor Show on 17th November.

The catalogue has a stunning collection of classic road-going models and modern supercars to interest a variety of enthusiasts.

In the first auction of its type at the NEC’s three-day classic motoring extravaganza, there’s also plenty of other lots on offer, including competition cars, motorbikes and a fine selection of automobilia.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, also confirms that due to overwhelming demand they have increased the number of cars they are auctioning and expanded their display area in the arena.

“The calibre of cars submitted for consideration into the sale has been incredible, such as the Ferrari Enzo, leaving us no option but to acquire more space to accommodate the extra vehicles.

“It all bodes very well for a tremendous event and I’m sure it will be one of the highlights of the weekend,” said Nick.

The 2004 Enzo being offered, just one of 400 left-hand drive models and estimated at £650,000 to £700,000, can go from 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 221 mph.

“These cars are rarely offered for sale anywhere in the world and are highly collectable being regarded as future long term investments,” added Nick.

Among the other prestigious models to bid for is a 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Series II, estimated at between £180,000 to £200,000, a 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2, estimated at between £155,000 to £175,000, a 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT, estimated at between £115,000 to £130,000, and a 1954 Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe, estimated at between £60,000 to £70,000.

Other popular makes that will be auctioned include Bentley’s, Morgan’s, Jaguar’s, Mini’s, Alfa Romeo’s, and MG’s.

Meanwhile, rally fans have the chance to bid for a 1986 Ford RS200, estimated at between £80,000 to £100,000, or a 1972 Ford Escort MkI Rally Car, estimated at £10,000 to £14,000.

“Our season ending auction promises to be among our best ever and will be a great way to finish a ground-breaking year.

“However, there’s no time to rest on our laurels as 2013 starts with our first sale in February,” said Nick.

Auction catalogues are required for entry into the sale and are available to buy in advance at £40 each, which also admits two people into the rest of The Footman James Classic Motor Show on Saturday’s sale day.
