Visitors to Silverstone Auctions’ next sale at The Footman James Classic Motor Show are being invited to turn back the clock and drive away in their own classic thanks to a variety of models that are being offered without reserve.

The auction takes place at the NEC on Saturday 17th November as part of the three-day motoring extravaganza. It is the first time Silverstone Auctions has hosted a sale at the event and is the first auction of its type in the show’s history.

“Our sale contains a number of cars being offered without reserve and presents an opportunity to buy your very own collector car rather than just admiring those on display in the exhibition halls.

“It’s a great chance to live the dream rather than thinking about what might have been. Bidders are invited to take a trip down memory lane and rekindle a love affair with a marque that they may have driven some thirty or forty years ago,” said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions.

And potential buyers looking to enter the world of classic car ownership will have a diverse portfolio to tempt them, ranging from stately Bentley’s to more sporty offerings.

Among the oldest of the lots being offered without reserve is a 1971 Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most iconic cars of the twentieth century. Equally impressive with this particular model is its low mileage at 25,626, which equates to just over 600 miles per year.

Other cars from the 1970’s being offered without reserve include an imposing 1974 Bentley T1 Saloon and a 1977 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider in Primrose Yellow with black leather interior and just 50,000 miles from new.

Moving forward a decade and Volvo is represented by a 1980 244 DL Saloon, with just 11,500 miles on the clock, making it worthy of consideration for any serious collector.

Meanwhile, a 1983 Volkswagen Golf Mk.1 GTi offers the opportunity to own a stylish hot-hatch in immaculate condition. It is certainly eye-catching in its Mars Red paintwork and tartan red and black cloth interior.

German car manufacturing is also on show with a 1987 BMW 635 CSi Coupe. The exceptional paintwork is matched by the clean interior and well maintained engine.

Jumping on another decade and a 1990 Bentley Mulsanne S takes centre stage. Powered by a 6.75 litre Rolls Royce V8 engine, it as pleasing to drive as it is on the eye thanks to a 3-speed automatic transmission.

“All these cars have one thing in common by being offered without reserve but they couldn’t be further apart in their individual charm. Our auction is a must for those hoping to bring the memories flooding back from their motoring past,” added Nick.
