Silverstone Auctions is ‘revving’ up for its next event, which is once again to be held at the home of British motorsport.

The Spring Sale takes place from midday on 16th May 2012 in The Wing building at Silverstone circuit. Classic cars, modern sports cars, motorcycles and automobilia will go under the hammer.

Viewing of the lots is from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Tuesday 15th May and from 9.30am to midday on Wednesday 16th May, when bidding commences.

One of the first cars to be entered, and an indication of things to come, is a stunning 1973 Porsche 911Carrera RS 2.7, regarded by many collectors and journalists as the greatest 911 ever produced.

This particular model has just completed a comprehensive restoration to the very highest standards by Marc De Siebenthal, a leading Swiss Porsche specialist. It has current FIA HTP papers and retains a number of its original factory options and is prepared for light competition use. The car has been estimated at between £190,000 to £210,000.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “Already our Spring Sale promises to be a must attend event for all classic car, motorsport, motorbike and automobilia enthusiasts. We are working hard to ensure we have a varied mix of lots, so that all tastes and budgets are catered for.

“It’s also great news to reveal this Carrera RS Touring as one of the first cars to be registered for the auction and it surely bodes well for another fantastic sale.”

Only recently, Silverstone Auctions started the year with a record breaking auction at The Race Retro and Classic Car Sale at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Highlights included a stunning 1958 Tojeiro Jaguar which sold for a premium inclusive total of £286,000 and an Ayrton Senna race helmet which fetched a staggering £74,750, significantly over its pre-sale estimate.

“While we thoroughly enjoyed our time away from Silverstone with our last event, it’s still great to be returning to this truly historic race circuit for The Spring Sale.

“Interest is mounting and we would be delighted to speak with any prospective vendors who might want to enter their car for auction,” added Nick.
