‘Taste’ the high-life at Silverstone
Some of the finest cigars, wines and spirits from anywhere in the world will be coming to Northamptonshire and could be yours to own or enjoy in a unique lifestyle collection auction at Silverstone race circuit in just a couple of weeks.
Yet it’s not just ultra-exclusive items – one humidor of cigars alone has been estimated at between £3,000 to £4,000 - tempting the taste buds that are already fetching interest from potential bidders around the globe.
That’s because completing the collection of some 60 lots are items of exquisite jewellery, watches, fashionable leather products and even important collectors books.
The sale on 17th May, the very first time that Silverstone Auctions has hosted a lifestyle collection event, is one of the highlights of the International Trophy weekend at the world-famous race circuit which will also see a collection of stunning classic cars go under the hammer on the same day before the action switches to the race track on the Saturday and Sunday.
Asked whether he expected the cigars on offer would be bought by people who wanted to smoke them or alternatively as an investment opportunity, Steve Wellings, lifestyle specialist at Silverstone Auctions, explained: “If stored in the right condition, these highly desirable cigars can last for years and are seen by cigar aficionados as a future investment opportunity, however, that’s not to say that there won’t be bidders who want to enjoy them for what they are straight away.”
However, it’s not just more masculine orientated lots that Steve expects will turn the sale in to one of the most talked about auctions of the year, as also going under the hammer are some exquisite items of jewellery, including diamond rings, pendants and chains, that would not be out-of-place gracing the social elite and A-list celebrities.
“Many of these luxury items represent some of the finer things in life and are just waiting to be enjoyed and treasured. However, it’s also worth remembering, particularly in these tough economic times, that they can often represent a safe investment opportunity, increasing in value over the years,” added Steve.
