Two marvellous Minis to be offered at CarFest North

A 1960 Morris Mini Minor with its own television career and a multiple class-winning 1967 Austin Mini Countryman will be just two of the fantastic lots being offered by Silverstone Auctions at the ‘Pride & Joy’ car auction at CarFest North on 8th and 9th September, in aid of BBC Children in Need.

Both cars boast truly unique talking points. The hand decorated pink Mini Minor was the star in a famous Marks and Spencer television advert alongside Twiggy and her fellow models in 2006. Such was the popularity of the car that Corgi subsequently created a model of it. The car also was one of the key exhibits at the National Heritage Motor Museum in Gaydon as part of Mini’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Not to be outdone, the MkI Countryman ‘Woody’ is presented in fantastic, preserved original condition. Having been owned by several collectors, the car has covered just 22,000 miles from new. It has been shown regularly at a number of Mini events with multiple class wins and was described by Classic and Sports Car magazine as a ‘perfect example, perfectly preserved.’

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “You don’t need to be a Mini collector or enthusiast to appreciate just how special these two particular cars are.

“This Mini Minor is famous in its own right, while the Countryman has been admired by many with class-wins at numerous shows.

“It will be an absolute pleasure to offer both of these cars at the ‘Pride & Joy’ car auction at CarFest North and help raise funds towards BBC Children In Need.”

The 1960 Morris Mini Minor, is estimated at between £7,000 to £9,000 while the 1967 Austin Mini Countryman is estimated at between £12,000 to £15,000.
