Silverdell PLC releases Infographic and article on the History of Asbestos: Uses and Regulations
Silverdell PLC the Specialist Environmental Support Services Group has released an article and Infographic to highlight the ‘History of Asbestos’, the use of asbestos and asbestos legislation, since the first recorded asbestos-related death in 1906. Silverdell take the lead as the first company, (who major on the management of asbestos and other hazardous materials) to publish an historic timeline on the subject of asbestos, in a visual and easily shareable format.
The infographic and article chart the history of asbestos and although it is not exhaustive, it communicates how asbestos has had such a profound effect on society as a whole, since the worldwide consumption of asbestos began. Silverdell has captured key dates and events, together with covering information in the form of an article.
Lucy Czakan, Head of Corporate Communications at Silverdell PLC said: “With updates to the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2006 being announced in April, the issues surrounding asbestos, its uses and dangers continue to be high on the Government and press agendas. Asbestos exposure is the biggest workplace killer in the UK. Deaths from asbestos are on the rise in the UK and are expected to peak in 2016, when it is thought that up to 5,000 deaths per year could be reported”.
She went on to say: “The infographic and article is only the story so far and will be updated in accordance with the amendments to the regulations as they become available”.
