The north’s biggest independent garden centre will fly the flag for Scotland in one of the garden industry’s top awards ceremonies.

Simpsons Garden Centre, based in Inverness, has been shortlisted in the finals of the 2011 Garden Retail Awards, one of the industry’s most prestigious showcase events.

The company has been nominated for three awards: Best Catering Facilities, Best Customer Service, and a Retail Outlet of the Year award.

Simpsons is the only Scottish company represented in the finals.

The nominations come on the heels of another prestigious award for Simpsons. In July, the family run business was named Best Garden Centre in Scotland by industry body, The Garden Centre Association. The centre was also recently awarded four star visitor status by VisitScotland.

Managing Director Andrew Simpson said: “We are delighted to be flying the flag for Scotland, with no less than three major nominations. We are particularly pleased that in a market dominated by major national chains, the efforts of smaller, independent garden centres likes ours have also been recognised. These nominations are a tribute to the local team at Simpsons who have worked with us to a build a popular and successful garden and visitor centre that is firmly rooted in the Highlands.”

The winners will be named at the Garden Retail Awards in Grosvenor House, London, on Monday 31 October.
