Vinghøg AS, a subsidiary of Simrad Optronics ASA, has received an order from the Swedish Armed Forces to deliver two VINGPOS demonstrators for their 84 mm mortars. The actual contract value is MSEK 3.3. VINGPOS is a positioning, navigating and aiming assistance system, and is included in Vinghøg's range of new and innovative vehicle system products. The system is developed for the M109 howitzers and has so far been utilized by the Norwegian Armed Forces. Despite the limited contract value, the contract is strategically important for Vinghøg in order to introduce the VINGPOS system to the defence market internationally, and to demonstrate the system's capablility to become adapted into other weapon systems than the M109 howitzer. The two demonstrators will be delivered during the second half of 2009.
