Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Disposition Services Expands Contract with Sims Recycling Solutions
Sims Recycling Solutions, the global leader in electronics reuse and recycling has confirmed expansion of its contract with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Disposition Services. The consideration for expansion was primarily a result of Sims’ capability to meet DLA qualifications and offer the best economic, compliance, and stewardship needs. Materials being disposed of under this contract will include largely IT and military equipment.
Critical factors are involved when an organization takes their disposal vendor selection seriously. Selection criteria primarily are derived from the following objectives:
-
To guarantee a secure and audited downstream flow of materials;
-
To employ world-class environmental health and safety (EHS) protocols;
-
To utilize irreplaceable experience required to seek and destroy all trace data;
-
To align with an e-Stewards certified recycler; and
-
To create less overall carbon emissions utilizing our secure, provider-operated facilities (such as those operated by Sims Recycling Solutions).
“We are very excited to expand our service offerings with DLA,” stated Sean Magann, vice president of Sims Recycling Solutions, Americas. “Our best in class capabilities allow a level of confidence in data security and environmental compliance unmatched in the electronics recycling industry. We look forward to offering continued support to DLA’s mission”.
This new agreement is effective as of March 2014 and is a direct reflection of Sims Recycling Solutions’ culture to always maintain, innovate on and improve the security and environmental processes of the electronics recycling industry. All current certificates and standards implemented by Sims Recycling Solutions in North America are posted on the global website.
