Hire Power Award Acknowledges Local Companies for Helping Develop the Baltimore Workforce

Sims Recycling Solutions, the global leader in electronics reuse and recycling, has been awarded the Hire Power Award by the Howard County Board to Promote Self-Sufficiency (BPSS) . This award was granted for the effort and support Sims has made to encourage programs and hiring practices that help develop the workforce. A formal award presentation was held on April 28 from 9-10 a.m. at Allen & Shariff located at 7061 Deepage Drive, Columbia, Maryland 21045.

Sims Recycling Solutions supports the Howard County BPSS initiatives and stands out as a local leader through the community, social and employee development programs implemented at this site.

“It’s important to Sims to provide our employees with tools and confidence that will help build their skillsets and advance their careers,” stated Steve Skurnac, president of Sims Recycling Solutions. “Programs in place at our Baltimore recycling site are exceptional because they not only involve educational, leadership, and safety training, but also provide opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities”.

The Board to Promote Self-Sufficiency works to promote the economic stability of individuals and families to help reduce poverty in Howard County. Local businesses and organizations play a critical role in providing residents with outlets to achieve financial stability. Howard County takes much pride in providing these options and appreciates businesses that support the program.
