Audi A8 V8 TDI * Audi again setting the path as technical leader. * World premier for SinterCast Compacted Iron in a series produced passenger car engine. SinterCast is pleased to announce that a new Audi A8 car with a new V8 TDI Diesel engine is on sale in Germany. The engine represents a very significant technological and environmental step in Diesel engine development. The new Audi V8 TDI Diesel engine, with an engine block cast in SinterCast Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) at the Halberg foundry in Germany, leads the way in Diesel engine design, achieving a state-of-the-art 50 kW/litre and 480 Nm of torque from only a 3.3 litre displacement V8 Diesel engine. Its remarkably small dimensions indicate the future of a new generation of compact, highly efficient, high power density engines, where SinterCast CGI is expected to be needed in engine blocks and other components. Combined with Audi's renowned Quattro chassis technology, the A8 V8 TDI offers outstanding vehicle driving performance with very considerable fuel consumption advantages. Audi have confirmed that the A8 V8 TDI also will be introduced outside Germany during this year.
