SinterCast: Doosan Infracore Co., Ltd adopts SinterCast-CGI technology for heavy-duty diesel engine development and production Doosan Infracore Co., Ltd, Korea's largest manufacturer of construction equipment and diesel engines, has entered into a technology supply agreement with the Swedish process control specialist SinterCast for Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI) product development leading toward series production. Under the terms of the agreement, a SinterCast Mini-System 2000 will be installed at the CASKOD Ltd foundry, an independently owned and operated iron foundry located within the grounds of the Doosan manufacturing facility in Incheon, Korea. The Mini-System 2000 installation will enable Doosan to finalise the development of a new high-performance heavy-duty diesel engine based on a SinterCast-CGI cylinder block. The Mini-System 2000 installation will also allow the CASKOD foundry to independently optimise its CGI production process in parallel with the ongoing development of other high-volume SinterCast-CGI cylinder block and head programs for EURO IV on-road applications. Dr Steve Dawson, President & CEO of SinterCast said: "The Doosan agreement represents the fourth installation of our new Mini-System 2000 product worldwide, and our second CGI technology supply agreement in the rapidly growing Korean automotive industry. The Doosan commitment reinforces the trend toward CGI in the heavy-duty diesel sector, for both on-road and off-road applications. With an initial value of approximately 1 MSEK, and EURO IV series production opportunities in the future, the Doosan agreement further increases SinterCast's global leadership position and the overall growth opportunity in our core cylinder block and head markets."
