SKF to use SinterCast Process Control Technology for Ductile Iron Series Production SinterCast has entered into a commercial agreement with the SKF Mekan foundry located in Katrineholm, Sweden for ductile iron process control The agreement extends to 100% of the ductile iron production at SKF Mekan including bearing housings used within the SKF Group and automotive and other components used by external customers. The collaboration represents the first commercial agreement for SinterCast outside its core business activity of process control for the production of compacted graphite iron (CGI). "The SinterCast process control technology has allowed us to improve our operational control as well as our product quality", says Erik Nelander, Managing Director of SKF Mekan AB. "The benefit of having our SinterCast process control system in daily commercial operation at SKF with its name of quality is of great significance. We are stimulated by the SKF decision and will together monitor the economic and quality benefits over the coming years. While Sinter Cast will continue to focus on CGI as its core business, we will in due course decide whether to expand into ductile iron. We have already proven that our technology provides the potential for this expansion", says Bertil Hagman, President and CEO of SinterCast.
