CARNABY WELCOMES THE WORLD - SUMMER 2012

Report this content

Carnaby is known for its unique public art and this summer is no different, as London welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world. Two giant globes have been installed in Carany Street, along with Olympic themed decorations.

Carnaby welcomes visitors with its stunning oversized installations, consisting of two giant inflatable globes, each measuring four metres in diameter, hanging pride of place in Carnaby Street. Each globe is wrapped in the words ‘Carnaby Welcomes the World’, taking inspiration from the original ‘Carnaby Street Welcomes the World’ sign that was installed across the street throughout the late 1970s.

Official Olympic coloured bunting is also hung throughout the Carnaby area including the Newburgh Quarter and Kingly Court.

The huge statement pieces hang proudly next to the iconic Union Flag decorated Carnaby arches and four metre wide de-constructed shimmering Union Flag. Support is being shown for Team GB on Ganton Street in the Newburgh Quarter, where the Union Flag oversized plug and socket is flashing red, white and blue with LED lights. Even the window boxes throughout the area are themed with statement red, white and blue flowers.

Carnaby is in the heart of London’s West End and boasts brands of distinction and an intriguing mix of global brand concept stores as well as independent boutiques, heritage brands, new designer names, as well as a vast choice of eateries and restaurants, bars, cafés and of course, great English pubs.
