Professional event organiser Nicole Leggett teams up with Pop singer Sunday Girl to create a micro festival.
St Martin’s Courtyard, London’s newest shopping and dining destination, Slingsby Place, London WC2H 9AB, celebrates the Great British summer with the ‘St Martin’s Courtyard Garden Party #smcgardenparty – A Thoroughly Modern Affair’.
Pop singer ‘Sunday Girl’ will open the event and perform two acoustic sets during the day. There will be lots to see, do, eat and drink including free fairy cakes from Bill’s market barrow, plus magicians, facepainting and silhouette cutting. Celebrating the original heritage of the garden party, strawberries and cream will be available in the courtyard which will be dressed with bunting and balloons.
The central meeting point will be a bandstand on which a salon show will take place showcasing the fashion from the boutiques and flagships of St Martin’s Courtyard. The team at The Covent Garden Academy of Flowers are creating a show-stopping finale dress made entirely from flowers. The models will mingle with the crowd as they parade their outfits along a grass catwalk. The St Martin’s Courtyard fashion expert, The Wardrobe Consultant will be on hand to offer one-to-one style consultations following the shows.
The St Martin’s Courtyard Garden Party introduces 21st century mediums of communication and social media to this traditionally British occasion.
Twitter savvy partygoers are invited to tweet about the St Martin’s Courtyard Garden Party using ‘#smcgardenparty’ to be entered into the ‘Fashion tombola’. The 1st, 10th, 25th, 50th, 100th, 200th and 500th tweets will win one of many fantastic prizes from the shops and restaurants.
There will be 100 goodie bags given away on the day to lucky shoppers who visit the St Martin’s Courtyard facebook page and ‘like’ it before 5pm on 1st July. The first 100 people to arrive at St Martin’s Courtyard will receive a goodie bag.

Evidence of ancient gardens dating back to the Saxon period of the 5th century was discovered on the site of St Martin’s Courtyard when coriander seeds were found by the Museum of London during the building work.
