Spring has sprung at Franco’s St James’s and real men do drink Rosé wine.
On April 23, Franco’s will launch their 2013 Rosé Wine List, the largest of any restaurant in London and this year has the most expensive Rosé wine exclusive to Franco’s.
It may have been the coldest Spring for a century but Franco’s in Jermyn Street are bringing Spring to SW1 with the launch of the 2013 edition of their annual Rosé Wine list.
According to Jason Phillips the General Manager of Franco’s real men do drink Rosé: “We notice that our male customers are not afraid of ordering Rosé wine. We are known for our extensive and quality wine list and having so many Rosé’s to choose from which adds an element of interest and a talking point for our customers and the fact we can now offer such an exclusive Rosé such as Chateau d’Esclan, which affirms to be the most expensive Rosé in the world. Caves D'Esclans, 'Garrus', Domaine Sacha Lichine, Provence, 2010 is £175 a bottle and there will be a special opportunity to taste this fine wine during the evening.”
The majority of the 2013 edition of listed Rosé wines will come from Italy, 8 of which are exclusive in the UK to Franco’s. In the list are 34 Italian Roses (8 exclusive rosé’s); 10 French rosé’s (4 Chateau d’Esclan).
To celebrate the launch of Franco’s Rosé wine list on 23 April, Franco’s are hosting a tasting event. Tickets are priced at £20 pre-booked and £25 on the night when purchased over the phone, plus a small service charge. You can taste as many wines varieties as you like and will be given tasting notes on arrival and the chance to meet the producers and importers face to face. (Group bookings of up to 20 as a maximum are accepted).
There will be a raffle held during the evening with the chance to win a dinner for 2 with wine, for the guest who correctly identifies the “Garrus” from the blind tasting.

NOTES TO EDITORS
Rosé wines continue to grow in popularity with figures for Britain's bars and restaurants showing Rosé wine sales have risen by over 20% in the last year alone.
Jason Phillips the General Manager of Franco’s St James’s is available for interviews to offer his expertise on Rosé wine.
Franco’s has been serving the community and visitors to St James’s from early morning to late at night, for over 60 years, with some believing Franco’s to be the first Italian restaurant in London.
Open all day, 6 days a week, the personality of the restaurant evolves from a gently efficient breakfast venue to a sharp and charged lunch atmosphere, to elegance and romance in the evening. Offering traditional and also more modern Italian dishes and welcomed by the staff with a smile. When visiting the toilets you will be amused to hear an audio of Alan Bennett reading from Winnie the Pooh.
