Change of management in Skanska's Polish operation The president of Skanska's Polish subsidiary Exbud Skanska, Leszek Walczyk, has elected to resign his post, effective October 31 2001. Skanska has initiated recruitment of a new president. Jan-Gunnar Glave will assume responsibility for the management of the company during the transition period. "We understand Leszek Walczyk's decision to resign his position. The downturn in the Polish market requires substantial adaptive measures. At the same time, we have drawn up guidelines for a comprehensive restructuring of the company," says Mats Wäppling, Executive Vice President, Skanska AB and responsible for Skanska's operations in Central Europe. The recruitment process has been initiated with the ambition of finding a permanent solution as quickly as possible. "We are looking for a candidate who is highly familiar with business in Poland and who has the ability to spearhead a process of change to integrate the various Polish units into a single company focused on profitability," says Jan-Gunnar Glave, who is a member of Exbud Skanska's senior management team and from the first of November acting president of the company. Exbud Skanska, which is Poland's largest construction services company, has been part of the Skanska Group since last year. During 2000, the company had sales of SEK 7 billion on an annual basis.
