Klaus Steen Mortensen named new President of Skanska Denmark

Klaus Steen Mortensen named new President of Skanska Denmark Klaus Steen Mortensen has been appointed President of Skanska Denmark, succeeding the current President of the company, Per-Ingemar Persson, who has decided to leave Skanska to become President of the Swedish company NVS. "Per-Ingemar Persson has made a major contribution to Skanska's restructuring process in Denmark, as he did previously in Sweden. We have now managed to reverse developments in Denmark and are determined to maintain the course that has now been set. The fact that Klaus Steen Mortensen, who has worked closely with Per-Ingemar Persson, is now taking up the reins will ensure continuity," explains Johan Karlström, Executive Vice President of Skanska AB. "It was a tough decision to leave Skanska after 20 years. Until quite recently, I would not have been able to envisage this scenario. However, the offer that I suddenly received represents such an exciting challenge that I simply could not refuse," says Per-Ingemar Persson. The change is effective immediately, but Per-Ingemar Persson will continue to be available to Skanska until September 1. Klaus Steen Mortensen, 45, was employed by Skanska in 2001 as the division manager of Byg Sjælland. Klaus Steen Mortensen is a graduate engineer with more than 20 years of professional experience as a contractor, consultant and developer, including project manager at A/S Øresundsforbindelsen. Prior to joining Skanska, he served as regional manager at H. Hoffman & Sønner. Skanska Denmark reported sales in 2001 of SEK 5.7 billion. The company has approximately 2,000 employees.
