Skanska and Saab Aerospace sign five-year service agreement valued at SEK 0.5 billion Skanska and Saab Aerospace have signed a five-year facilities management contract worth a total of SEK 500 M. Under the terms of the agreement, Skanska will assume responsibility for facilities management services at Saab Aerospace's facilities in Linköping, where the JAS Gripen combat aircraft is developed and constructed. The takeover will commence on September 1, 2003, and SEK 400 M will be included in order bookings for the second quarter of 2003. Skanska Services will employ 62 persons from Saab Aerospace's service units. Skanska is assuming total responsibility for facilities management services at the facilities in Linköping. The assignment covers space planning, operation and maintenance of both office and production facilities, including responsibility for the physical electricity, telecommunications and data networks, together with the associated electrical supplies. Saab Aerospace's facilities in Linköping comprise some 375,000 square meters of floor area in 150 buildings, plus a land area totaling some 2.5 million square meters. Approximately 6,000 employees work in the office buildings and plant facilities within the area. The operations relate principally to the production and development of the JAS Gripen aircraft and parts of the new Airbus A380 super jumbo passenger aircraft. Saab Bofors Dynamics and a small number of external companies are also located on the premises. Skanska has worked with facilities management since 1998 and currently has operations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the UK. The number of employees is approximately 1,600 and sales amount to approximately SEK 2.5 billion. The customers include Amersham, Ericsson, HP, Philips, Pfizer, Volvo Car Corporation, SAAB Automobile, Scania and Volvo Trucks.
