Skanska builds a new Detention Center in Kalmar, Sweden, for about SEK 620M

Skanska has been commissioned by Skandrenting to build a new Detention Center for the Correctional Service as well as premises for the national transport unit (NTE) in Kalmar.  The contract is worth SEK 620M, which will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Sweden in the fourth quarter, 2024.

The detention building will have seven floors with a gross area of ​​approximately 12,400 square meters. It is being built near the police station and will, in addition to cells for inmates, contain activity rooms, health care, a commercial kitchen, offices and a garage.

Construction works will begin in October this year and the project should be completed in September 2027.
