Skanska builds academic commons building in Virginia, USA, for USD 103M, about SEK 1B
Skanska has signed a contract with Virginia State University to build an academic commons building in Petersburg, Virginia, USA. The contract is worth USD 103M, about SEK 1B, which will be included in the US order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2022.
The new academic commons building is approximately 53,000 square meters. The facility will house academic classrooms, media laboratories, broadcast production labs, multipurpose auditoriums, art and design department ceramics labs and studios, distance learning technologies and faculty offices and support space.
Additionally the facility will include an elevated running track, basketball courts, and a natatorium complete with a six-lane, 25-yard competition pool.
The project also includes the demolition of Harris Hall and Daniel Gymnasium.
Construction will begin January 2023 and will be completed 2025.
