Skanska has signed a contract with Akademiska Hus to build three houses, consisting of research and university premises, to campus Albano, Stockholm. The contract is worth about SEK 1.3 billion, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden for the fourth quarter of 2018.

Campus Albano shall become a scientific hub that connects Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) with each other as well as with the city and will form a sustainable campus with educational and office environments for students, teachers and researchers.

Skanska will build three houses, of 65,000 square meters, which will accommodate new university premises for Stockholm University. Construction starts immediately and will go on for three years.

Skanska and Akademiska Hus have collaborated for many years in many projects, most recently Biomedicum in Solna. It is gratifying that we have once again gained the confidence to continue our cooperation. In this collaborative project, we will now proceed with the implementation of Albano houses 1, 2 and 4 in the new university campus”, says Bengt Staaff, Regional Manager, Skanska Sweden.

The development of campus Albano takes place in harmony with nature, taking great account of biodiversity. The goal is to become a model for sustainable urban development.

“Campus Albano is in the absolute forefront when it comes to sustainability,” says Hayar Gohary, Project Director, Akademiska hus.
