Skanska builds care home in Bergen, Norway, for NOK 548M, about SEK M
Skanska has signed a contract with the Municipality of Bergen to build Midtbygda care home in Bergen, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 548M, about SEK 550M, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the third quarter 2023.
The new care home will be approximately 14,000 square meters and contain 100 short-term accommodation units, day activity center, rehabilitation and training facilities, cafeteria and an underground parking garage.
The project has ambitious climate and environmental goals. The construction site will be operated as emission-free, with a target of 85 percent reduction in emissions through the use of electric construction machinery, and the building will be so-called "Paris Proof". This means that it will use climate-friendly materials, renewable energy and energy-efficient solutions that are in line with the Paris Agreement. That also includes plans for extensive reuse of materials from an existing building that will be demolished as part of the project. The ambition is to certify the building according to BREEAM NOR, level Excellent.
Construction is expected to start in October 2023 with completion in October 2026.
