Skanska builds high school in Halmstad, Sweden, for about SEK 440M
Skanska has signed an agreement with Halmstad Municipality to build a new high school for civil engineering including a sports hall. The contract is worth about SEK 440M, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden in the first quarter of 2026.
The new high school will be able to accommodate 590 students. The building covers a total of 16,000 square meters (about 172,000 square feet) of gross area including the sports hall and cooking kitchen. The school will have premises for both theory and practice.
Sustainability will be a key focus throughout the construction project, including the reuse of HD/F and bricks. Particular attention will be given to reducing the building’s climate impact. Further details will be announced in due course.
Construction is planned to start in April this year and the school should be ready to be put into use in time for the fall semester of 2028.
