Skanska has signed an agreement with Skandia Fastigheter to build two houses in the ongoing urban development of Backaplan in Gothenburg, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 800M, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden for the first quarter of 2022.

The construction project includes two houses, eight and seven storeys high respectively. The first house is planned for stores on two floors and housing on six floors, while the second house will have a parking garage on three floors and four floors with housing. In total, there will be just over 420 apartments in the two houses.

The project constitutes the start of an effort to turn Backaplan into a modern district with a vision to combine power and creativity from the area with safe, modern buildings and mixed neighborhoods.

Construction work will start during the second quarter this year and is expected to be completed by autumn 2025.
