Skanska has signed additional contracts with Region Skåne in the project to build a new healthcare building in Malmö, Sweden. The contract for the now contracted and remaining stages is worth about SEK 4.2 billion, which will be included in the Swedish order bookings for the third quarter 2019.

The building consists of two towers, 10 and 11 stories above ground, interconnected with culverts and connecting corridors. It will accommodate over 2,200 rooms and will be the workplace for more than 2,000 people. With the new building, the hospital area will increase with more than 100,000 square meters of new space for operating rooms, care and intensive care. The new healthcare building is part of the redevelopment that Region Skåne is carrying out in the hospital area in Malmö.

The aim for the building is to be certified in accordance with Miljöbyggnad, level silver. Miljöbyggnad is a certification system for newly produced and existing buildings focusing on energy, choice of materials and indoor environment.

Construction of the remaining stages of the project will start immediately and the new healthcare building will be open for patients during 2024.
