Skanska has signed a contract with the Statens Vegvesen Region Øst to build a new highway section on the E16 between Åsbygda and Olum, Norway. The contract is worth about NOK 1.1 billion, about SEK 1.2 billion, which will be included in the Nordic order bookings for the fourth quarter 2019.

The project includes 10.5 kilometers of new built road on the E16 comprising two lanes, central barriers and lanes for overtaking. In addition, about 1 kilometer of county roads, 5 kilometers of maintenance and forest roads and two major intersections will be built, as well as 11 large concrete structures and 4 wooden bridges.

The project has high sustainability ambitions and will be certified according to CEEQUAL, an internationally recognized classification standard for sustainable construction projects based on third-party certification of measures taken.

Construction start is planned for the spring 2020. The project is a part of the development project E16 Eggemoen - Olum, which will open for traffic in 2022.
