Skanska has signed an agreement with Region Värmland to build a new reception building at the Central Hospital, CSK, in Karlstad, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 740M, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden in the third quarter of 2023.

The project is the first, of a total of five, in the major development of CSK in Karlstad, where Skanska has been working with planning, design and costing for a couple of years.

The new reception building will have six floors with hospital operations plus a fan room floor and basement covering a total of approximately 14,000 square meters. The building is mainly intended for day care and simpler care cases.

The new reception building will be the first hospital building in Sweden with a wooden frame, and recycled brick will be used for the exterior facade.

Preparatory work will begin in the fall and construction is scheduled to start in March 2024. The reception building will be ready for use before the end of 2026.
