Skanska builds school in Malmö, Sweden, for about SEK 400M
Skanska has signed a contract with Stadsfastigheter in Malmö to build a new upper secondary school in Malmö, Sweden. The contract is worth about SEK 400M, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden for the third quarter 2021.
The new school will be four stories high and will have a total area of almost 15,000 square meters. The new building includes school premises, a canteen and a café. The upper secondary school will be the first in many years to be built in the city and will have a capacity for 1,200 students.
Skanska and Stadsfastigheter i Malmö have collaborated early and investigated functions and elements, from urban planning issues and design down to specific functions. Thus, environmental aspects, aesthetics and functional requirements have been clarified and cost-effective solutions developed without sacrificing high quality.
Construction work will start in October 2021 and the school is expected to be operational by autumn 2024.
