Skanska builds shopping centre in Pori, Finland, for EUR 110 M, about SEK 960 M

Skanska has signed a contract for building the Puuvilla Shopping Centre in Pori, Finland. The clients are property investment company Renor Oy and Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company. The contract is worth EUR 110 M, about SEK 960 M, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska Finland for the fourth quarter 2012.

Puuvilla Shopping Centre will be among the ten biggest shopping centres in Finland. There will be approximately 43,000 square meters of commercial area to rent. The aim is to provide energy with low emissions, and geoenergy is used for heating and cooling the building. The building aims to achieve LEED Gold certification.

Construction will start immediately and is planned to be completed during the fall 2014. Construction will employ up to 300 workers.

Skanska’s operations in Finland cover construction services, residential and commercial project development and public-private partnerships. Construction services include building construction, building services, and civil and environmental construction. In Estonia Skanska’s activities comprise construction services and residential development. The combined sales for Skanska’s Finnish and Estonian operations in 2011 were EUR 1 billion and the company employed about 3,360 people.
