Skanska divests the office building The Loop in Lund, Sweden, for about SEK 570M. The buyer is Vectura. The transaction will be recorded by Skanska Commercial Development in the second quarter of 2022. The transfer of ownership will take place at completion in 2024.

The construction contract is worth about SEK 370M, which will be included in the order bookings for Sweden in the second quarter 2022.

The Loop, developed by Skanska Sweden, will consist of six floors with approximately 10,500 square meters of leasable area. The property will have office space, coworking areas, restaurant as well as a concert and event hall that can be converted into an exhibition hall. Located between the world-unique research facilities ESS and Max IV, in the heart of the expansive Science Village in Lund, the building will be a space where researchers, entrepreneurs and students can meet and collaborate in a creative way.

The Loop will be a net zero energy office building, meaning  it annually will produce and use the same amount of energy . For example, the roof will be equipped with an extensive photovoltaic system and the building will be heated by a system that uses waste heat from nearby research facilities. According to the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's calculation model, the climate footprint is estimated at approximately 370 kg CO2/square meter BTA.

Construction is planned to begin in the spring of 2022 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

Skanska will continue to be part of the Science Village, by future development of two additional office buildings in the area.
