Skanska is to launch a new unit to develop its own projects in the Norwegian office premises market. Jörgen Eriksson has been appointed President of the operation.

Skanska Commercial Development Norway has acquired its first land area in central Oslo and is actively looking for more land acquisitions.

“Our strong financial position enables us to invest in new projects early in the business cycle. There is major potential for new, modern and green offices that can attract tenants and investors in Oslo,” says Claes Larsson, Executive Vice President and the member of Skanska’s Senior Executive Team responsible for Commercial Development. “The interest is extensive among potential tenants and our great challenge is to locate suitable land.”

Skanska is working actively to find land that can be developed to provide new, exciting, green offices in Norway. Initially, the operation will focus on the Oslo area, but other growth locations may also be of interest.

Jörgen Eriksson has been appointed President of Skanska Commercial Development Norway, which is part of Skanska Commercial Development Nordic, which develops offices, volume retail trade and logistics properties in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and now also Norway.

Jörgen Eriksson has worked at Skanska for 25 years. Most recently, he has been responsible for the project development in the Swedish construction operation. Jörgen will assume his new position in January 2011.

The preparatory work that includes establishing a local organization in Norway has been led by Niklas Grimslätt, who will now return to Sweden. He will begin working at Skanska Properties Gothenburg in the autumn after his parental leave.

All of Skanska’s new office projects are designed to be energy efficient and meet the requirements for certification in accordance with the international environmental system LEED’s Gold level.

Skanska Commercial Development Nordic initiates and develops property projects in offices, logistics centers and retail warehouses.

Office operations focus on the four large metropolitan regions in Sweden, the Copenhagen region in Denmark, the Helsinki region in Finland and Oslo in Norway. The development of logistics centers and volume retail properties is conducted in strategic locations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway.
