Skanska hands over highway in Finland

Report this content

Today Skanska, through the Tieyhtiö Nelostie company, hands over the highway between Träskända and Lahti to the Finnish Transport Agency, according to the contract. In 1997 Skanska signed a 15-year agreement on the planning, funding, construction and maintenance of the highway. When the contract runs out the highway is handed over without charge and in agreed upon condition.

The project was the first privately funded highway in the Nordics. The Transport Agency has estimated that between 20 and 30 million Euro of public funds can be saved each year due to the reduced number of accidents and improved flow of traffic.
