Skanska lands Florida order valued at USD 100 M, about SEK 860 M The US-based Skanska subsidiary Beers has been contracted to construct an upscale office building and shopping center in Tampa, Florida. The order is valued at USD 100 million, about SEK 860 million. The customer is the New York-based Bromley Companies, a real estate development and property ownership company. The center, named Tampa Bay 1, includes 70,000 sq. m. of office space and 31,000 sq. m. of retail and restaurant space as well as parking for 4,000 vehicles. The assignment includes creation of an attractive outdoor environment, featuring an open-air pedestrian promenade, lush landscaping and interactive water features. Tampa Bay 1 is scheduled to open at the end of 2002. In joint venture with Sordoni Skanska, Beers is currently working on construction of the USD 100 million International Mall in Tampa. Beers is also working on the USD 19 million WFLA/Tampa Tribune Media Center and the Shriner's International Headquarters Building, a USD 12 million project in the city. Beers is part of Skanska USA, which had sales of SEK 35 billion in 1999 and an order backlog of SEK 67 billion at year-end 1999.
