Skanska lands medical equipment order to Thailand for SEK 470 M Skanska has been assigned to supply and install medical equipment for 355 hospitals in Thailand. The order, which is worth approximately DKK 400 M (about SEK 470 M) will be executed by Skanska Jensen A/S, Skanska's Danish subsidiary. The customer is the Thai Ministry of Health and the initiative is part of Thailand's national health plan to improve regional healthcare services. Danida, the Danish development assistance agency, will provide financing under its mixed-credits program, including a 35% interest-rate subsidy. The loan has been arranged by the Copenhagen branch of the ABN-AMRO bank. Equipment and services originating in Denmark will constitute more than 50% of the value of the order, and more than 20% will be procured at the local level. Skanska Jensen's assignment covers the selection, procurement, delivery and installation of medical equipment - for example ECG monitors and water treatment equipment. In addition, the contract also provides for training the personnel who will be using the equipment. The project involves implementation over an 18-month period, with a two-year guarantee once the equipment becomes operational. Skanska Jensen A/S is responsible for project management and will benefit from the fund of experience acquired by Skanska Medical Services AB in similar hospital projects in Malaysia and Thailand, and the current re-equipping of two hospitals in China. The total value of these previous orders is approximately SEK 620 M.
