Skanska lands new contracts in the US totaling USD 407 million, SEK 3.7 billion Skanska's US subsidiaries have been awarded new contracts with a total value of USD 407 million, slightly more than SEK 3.7 billion. The American company RCN has contracted Skanska to build the company's new head office. The contract amount is in excess of USD 100 million, about SEK 920 million. The 60,000-sq.m. office is being built in Lawrence Township in New Jersey by Sordoni Skanska. Work is under way and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2001. Skanska is currently also involved in installing broadband networks in the US for RCN, which provides infrastructure for data and telecommunications. RCN Corporation is listed on the Nasdaq exchange. Skanska will also renovate, reinforce and seismically retrofit the Richmond- San Rafael Bridge across San Francisco Bay in California. A contract valued at USD 484 million, about SEK 4.3 billion, will be signed in the near future. Skanska's share is 50 percent, corresponding to SEK 2.2 billion. The customer is the California Department of Transportation, Caltrans. The project is being carried out by the Skanska companies Koch Skanska and Tidewater Skanska in a consortium with Tutor-Saliba. Work on the 7.2-km (4.5- mile) long bridge will begin later this autumn, for completion in the beginning of 2004. In addition, Skanska's subsidiary Beers has been awarded the contract for design and construction of the new Tampa International Airport Airside "E" Terminal in Tampa, Florida. The contract is valued at USD 65 million, about SEK 600 million. The customer is the Hillsborough Aviation Authority. The new terminal will comprise about 25,000 sq.m. and will be opened in October 2002.
