Skanska lands road-maintenance contract valued at SEK 330 M Skanska has been awarded the operations and maintenance assignment for the road network in the Örnsköldsvik and Kramfors areas. The contract is valued at SEK 330 M and encompasses some 2,200 kilometers of roads. The customer is the Swedish Road Administration, Central Region. The agreements cover six and five years, respectively, with options for two-year extensions in each area. The options for both contracts are valued at an additional SEK 115 M. The assignment covers asphalt roads as well as gravel and forest roads. The maintenance work includes, snow-clearing, salting, road signs, railings and rest areas. However, reinforcement measures are not included; these will be covered in separate contracts. Since 1993, Skanska has been responsible for operation and maintenance of about 10,000 kilometers of the Swedish road network. This type of assignment creates continuity and, therefore, it is an important base for our future operations. Accordingly, this is a commercially important contract that creates many new opportunities.
