Skanska lands SEK 1 billion Facilities Management assignment - signs three-year contract with Ericsson Skanska and Ericsson are expanding their Facilities Management (FM) partnership. The companies are signing a three-year contract valued at slightly more than SEK 1 billion, USD 95 M, for an additional five facilities in Sweden. Under the agreement, Skanska will take over operating and property services as well as operation of the physical communications network at Ericsson's Swedish production plants in Linköping, Gävle, Kumla and Nynäshamn, and at the research, development and design facility in Lund. Skanska will have overall responsibility for delivery of services to the operations at the plants, the physical aspects of the workplace and equipment. All 150 persons at the affected service units within Ericsson will be provided employment with Skanska. The facilities covered by the contract currently have approximately 12,000 employees and, overall, Skanska will now be supplying FM services for more than 37,000 Ericsson personnel. "This assignment for Ericsson is in line with our strategy of following our customers on a global scale, and we regard this contract as a key aspect of our ongoing expansion," says Mats Jönsson, manager of the Skanska Services business unit. Skanska is currently the leading supplier of FM services in the Nordic region. Skanska's active initiative in the services market was launched last year, following the acquisition of Ericsson Real Estate and Services (REM). At the same time, an SEK 5 billion three-year service agreement was signed with Ericsson in Sweden, and subsequently for the majority of Ericsson's facilities in the UK. Skanska's Services operations involve annual sales of about SEK 2.4 billion and employ more than 1,000 people in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the UK. Skanska provides services for more than 50,000 workplaces and approximately 3 million square meters of commercial and industrial properties.
