Skanska receives additional orders for power production units in New York contract valued at USD 33.4 M, SEK 350 million Skanska's US subsidiary Slattery Skanska has been contracted to build two new power production units on Long Island, New York. The contract is valued at USD 33.4 M, or about SEK 350 M. The customer is the NYSE- listed Keyspan Energy Development Corp., with operations in the northeastern US and a supplier to the Long Island Power Authority. The power units, each equipped with a turbine generator, are scheduled to be completed in May 2002 to meet the expected power peaks in the summer. The contract is a follow-up of last winter's successful installation of eleven power production units in New York City for the New York Power Authority. These units were placed in service in June 2001 after a construction and installation period of only six months. The new contract is for two co-located units at the Glenwood Landing Power Generation Site in Nassau County, northern Long Island. The two power production units will generate a total of 79.9 MW. Slattery Skanska is responsible for construction of the power stations, including two 146-foot-tall stacks, control and operations buildings as well as installation of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) units, transformers, compressors, associated pumps and other key equipment. The scope of the work involves installation of 11,000 linear feet of surface and underground process pipe, 235,000 linear feet of control wiring and 85,000 linear feet of power wiring. Slattery Skanska will be assisted by Gottlieb Skanska in an internal consortium for the project.
